Monkeying around with Basement Jaxx for Peace One Day Monday 21 Sept Koko, Camden

Simon Amstel joins Pandemonium Drummers for ‘Peace One Day’ at Koko
Monday night was one of these nights. A sold out crowd in Camden’s legendary Koko venue (the last time I was there I was watching Prince during is guerilla Hit and Run Tour) with 1500 people saw the awesome Basement Jaxx put on a frenetic, eye popping show with a cast of Ballerinas, Korean Dancers, Sikh percussionists a full choir and the pandemonium drummers (pictured). Surprise of the night came when some of us were asked to do an encore during ‘Wheres your head at’ dressed as Gorillas. All I can say is that there is something hugely liberating about jumping around in front of a frenzied crowd dressed like a dancing gorilla! I enjoyed it so much that when the drummers came back out to jam for the final track Bingo Bango, I came on as a gorilla in full bowler hat with drum! Basement Jaxx put on a brilliant show for the Peace One Day Charity and provided an amazing opportunity for different artists including us.
